What We’re Looking For
Abre is seeking a Software Engineer III–IV to join our team. You’ll help shape the architecture and direction of our product, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver performant, scalable, and modern software solutions. You bring deep engineering expertise, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for solving real problems in education through technology.
Your Impact & Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Design, build, and maintain high‑throughput PHP services on our LEMP stack (PHP 8+, MySQL) for our Integrations product
- Optimize schemas, queries, and indexing strategies to keep page loads sub‑200ms and scale to millions of users
- Shape and implement our Vue.js UI front‑end—establish best practices for accessible, performant components and rendering
- Evaluate emerging frameworks and tooling to keep our user experience modern and maintainable
- Coordinate releases for the Integrations product, ensuring zero downtime and smooth rollouts
Cross‑functional Collaboration
- Partner with product, UX, data engineering, and QA to translate requirements into robust, well‑tested features
- Collaborate with data teams to support real analytics and ML pipelines
Mentorship & Culture
- Lead code reviews, tech talks, and hiring interviews; mentor junior and mid‑level engineers on best practices and career growth
- Promote a culture of feedback and collaboration—help shape guild meetings, system architecture discussions, and our engineering values
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and tackle technical debt, propose infrastructure as code (Terraform) enhancements, and automate CI/CD pipelines
- Monitor performance and costs on AWS or GCP; recommend optimizations for compute, databases, and caching layers
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years professional software engineering experience, including full‑stack delivery
- Proven expertise with PHP (7.x/8.x), MySQL, Linux server environments, Nginx/PHP‑FPM
- Hands‑on with modern front‑end tech (React, TypeScript, HTML/JSX), along with build tools and testing frameworks
- Familiarity with gRPC or REST API design, message‑driven architectures, and web security best practices
- Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar), and automated testing (unit, integration, E2E)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Go, protobuf/gRPC, or other compiled languages for microservices
- GCP experience (App Engine, GCS, Compute Engine, BigQuery)
- Infrastructure as Code proficiency (Terraform, CloudFormation) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Exposure to data‑driven systems or ML model pipelines in a production setting
- Prior experience scaling SaaS products in an EdTech environment
