In 2021, FlightProfiler (Cincinnati, Ohio) a Veteran Owned Small Business, Ohio University (Athens, Ohio) and Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio) began a collaboration to develop the Low Altitude Weather Network (LAWN), with a principle focus on reducing 'inadvertent VFR flight into IMC;' a primary factor in many weather-related aviation accidents. That partnership has been funded by the Ohio Federal Research Network (Columbus, OH) and the US Air Force (Dayton, OH), with partnership from NASA (Cleveland, OH), and the US Navy Aerospace Medical Detachment (Dayton, OH). After 4 years of effort, the LAWN collaboration has delivered 'Visibility Tool.' Other LAWN innovations are in development. LAWN meteorological innovations will save lives, make aviation even safer and along the way show that Ohio is still the birthplace of aviation.
