Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience, in collaboration with University Health Services, is recruiting a full-time Clinical Counselor or Social Worker to join the department that will provide comprehensive clinical, consultative, emergency and psycho-educational services to the student body of the University of Cincinnati.

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct patient care in the form of individual psychotherapy.
  • Provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, consultation, treatment and related psychological services to students.
  • Apply and supervise (if applicable) the application of psychological procedures and techniques in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating psychological disorders.
  • Provide crisis management and case coordination with interdisciplinary clinic team members.
  • Function as a member of interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide education and support regarding psychosocial and behavioral issues to medical school faculty, attending physicians, nursing staff, residents, interns, medical students and other trainees as requested and/or needed.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, case conference meetings, and other clinic meetings.
  • Fulfill medical records, billing, HIPAA and other administrative requirements associated with patient care.
  • Perform related duties based on department needs.

Minimum Requirements

Clinical Counselor

Required Education

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling.

Required Trainings/Certifications

  • State of Ohio Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or a Professional Clinical Counselor with supervision designation (LPCC-S)

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Good interpersonal skills, team oriented and desire to collaborate in a multidisciplinary setting.

Social Worker

Required Education

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work.

Required Trainings/Certifications

  • State of Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), or a Licensed Independent Social Worker with supervision designation (LISW-S).

Required Experience

  • Two (2) years of supervised social work experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Good interpersonal skills, team oriented and desire to collaborate in a multidisciplinary setting.
