The Department of Dermatology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking one Associate To position to perform responsible administrative staff functions for a designated University official.

Essential Functions

  • Perform responsible administrative staff functions for a designated university official, frequently of a confidential nature, concerning administrative activities of substantial complexity.
  • Recommend the development of operating policies and procedures, advise and assist administrator in policy and strategy formulation.
  • Prepare responses to inquiries.
  • Identify and review problem areas such as staffing levels, operating procedures, budgetary support, etc.
  • Review and evaluate proposals concerning operational activities of designated units.
  • Maintain liaison with designated unit directors and administrators, as well as external offices and agencies to insure conformity to external policies and procedures.
  • Prepare memos, speeches, and position statements, as required.
  • Schedule visiting speakers, dinners, departmental events as well as any requested meetings
  • Organize and manage a Departmental calendar.
  • Represent designated administrator, as needed, with moderate authority to make commitments on administrative policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of budget request and narrative, as required.
  • Interview and recommend the employment of support staff.
  • May provide direct supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Prepare the medical student schedule in collaboration with the Clerkship Director
  • Lead medical student orientation, pre-test, post-test, grade input and student scheduling
  • Ensure all rotating students are onboarded at the veterans hospital
  • Organize and schedule visiting student rotations
  • Coordinate the Medical Student Scholarship (2 scholarship recipients a year)
  • Coordinate the Medical Student Scholars Program (1 student a year)
  • Preparing for Grand Rounds in collaboration with the Physician Lead, including coordination with residents. Liaison with College of Medicine for CME standards and faculty credit.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Eight (8) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement

Required Experience

  • Four (4) years of experience in a related field. Experience may require one (1) year supervision.
  • Some positions may require experience in university administration.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
