Job Overview

The UC Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati has been an independent academic unit within the College of Medicine since 1984. It is responsible for the medical direction of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Center for Emergency Care (CEC) and the Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program.

The Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking a full-time (100% FTE) Clinical Research Professional to assist in their clinical research at the West Chester Hospital location. UC EIP employs linkage coordinators who are specially trained to connect clients to external services, such as infectious disease specialists, treatment facilities and social services to address unmet social determinants of health needs. These coordinators are trained in trauma-informed and culturally competent care, with ongoing training refreshers related to best practices in client communication. This position will oversee the day-to day activities of the staff at West Chester Hospital for this new award, working along side linkage coordinators (CRAs) who are specially trained to connect clients to external services, such as infectious disease specialists, treatment facilities and social services to address unmet social determinants of health needs.

Essential Functions

  • Plan and coordinate clinical research projects.
  • Assist in protocol development and provide input into descriptions of routine research processes.
  • If qualified, manage a team of clinical research coordinators who screen and recruit in the emergency department 24/7, with development related to administrative duties including billing and scheduling.
  • Serves as a primary contact for clinical centers in multi-center research studies, develop study materials – serving to train imaging sites, assure study protocol compliance, screen, recruit, and obtain informed consents for clinical trials/studies.
  • Assist study/trial team with various research related tasks, collect and enter clinical research data required by the sponsors in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes proprietary software for image analysis and segmentation, collect and maintain regulatory documents from subjects and assist in preparation of required regulatory forms and documentation according to protocol.
  • Will work rotating schedule that includes, day, evening and night shifts, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Requirements

  • One (1) year experience in a related field

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Experience working in an academic research setting.
  • Clinical Research Professional Certification.

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
