Job Overview

Oversee service desk and supervise student associates at Langsam Library Operations and User Services. The position will primarily work afternoon/evening hours, including Sunday, to provide operational leadership during the University's highest service hours.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure high-quality customer service, attention to detail in user services, and accuracy in the completion of opening/closing processes and statistics gathering.
  • Cover service desks as necessary, performing circulation and reserves responsibilities. Respond to user requests and needs, referring to librarians, informationists and others as necessary. Interpret library policies and procedures.
  • Provide functional supervision, guidance, training, and support to student associates and other staff as appropriate to departmental needs.
  • Oversee student associate assignments at the desk and in the care and maintenance of physical library collections. Participates in and assists with the training of student associates.
  • At Langsam Library, provide advanced support for library staff, student associates, faculty, and library users; interpret and apply library policies and procedures and refer issues as appropriate.
  • Oversee and coordinate assigned library operational systems, technologies, and workflows, including integrated library systems and related services.
  • Develop, document, and maintain operational procedures, standards, and best practices appropriate to assigned services.
  • Participate in the implementation, testing, evaluation, and ongoing improvement of library systems, services, technologies, and workflows.
  • Coordinate responses to facility, technology, security, and public service issues that arise during assigned hours and communicate significant operational concerns to library director and administration.
  • Collect, review, and interpret operational information and data to support assessment, reporting, planning, and continuous service improvement.
  • Serve as the primary operational lead for Langsam Library during assigned afternoon and evening hours.
  • Serve as the Alma/Primo/Leganto Course Manager primary admin.
  • Coordinate and oversee Course Reserves services across University Libraries locations, ensuring accurate, timely processing of reserve materials and course requests in accordance with library policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Course Reserves workflows and documentation, and collaborate with faculty, library staff, and campus partners to support course-related resource access and continuous improvement of reserve services.
  • Participate in UC Libraries meetings, trainings, and committees as appropriate to responsibilities.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant education, experience and/or other specialized training can fulfill minimum education and experience requirements.

Required Experience

  • One (1) year of relevant work experience.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary/Hourly Pay Rate Information: $47,800-$55,000. Final pay rate will be determined based on candidate qualifications and experience
